Morrissey

My husband and I saw Morrissey in concert last weekend in Myrtle Beach at the House of Blues. It was a good show except for a few things:

1. I’m getting too old for concerts. It was hard to stand up for a long period of time. Oh my God, that sounds sad but it’s true. Plus, my husband and I had spent all day drinking by the pool so we were a little tired by concert time.

2. Morrissey mainly did songs from his most recent album. He opened with Panic by the Smiths so I thought we were in for a night of old skool classics but not so much. I know he’s touring to promote his new album but come on! I did buy his new album but just don’t like it as much as the old stuff and he has a LOT of old stuff to play.

3. We weren’t in the minority. When he played an older song, people went nuts. New songs, the crowd was much more subdued.

Here are 2 songs he did play:

Every day is like Sunday: One of my all-time favorites. Fun to hear this performed in an actual “sea-side town.”

Panic, a great opening:

Also played Girlfriend in a Coma. In fact, he started it once but someone got on stage and distracted him so he restarted it.

He should have played Ask. But no go. Here’s Ask done to Thomas the Train.
